Prof. Valeria Kaleva works at the Acibadem City Clinic Medical Center – Varna. She graduated from Medical University – Varna. She was the long-term head of the Department of Pediatrics at the Medical University – Varna and the head of the Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Clinic at the University Multiprofile Hospital for Active Treatment “St. Marina” – Varna, founder and head of the Expert Center for Coagulopathies and Rare Anemias at the same hospital.
Currently, her professional activity is in pre-hospital care in the field of children’s and hematological diseases.
She obtained a specialty in Pediatrics, Clinical Hematology, Pediatric Clinical Hematology and Oncology. The scientific research activity is in the field of infectious and other complications during chemotherapy of children with malignant diseases, hereditary anemias and coagulapathies. She obtained PhD with a thesis “Febrile neutropenia and infectious complications in children with malignant diseases”.
She is author in more than 100 publications in national and international refereed and other scientific sources, book chapters, and national manuals in hematology and pediatric oncohematology. During the years Prof. Kaleva actively participated in national and foreign scientific events.
Prof. Kaleva is a member of the Committee on Rare Diseases at the Ministry of Health, the Expert Council in the specialty Pediatric Clinical Hematology and Oncology at the Ministry of Health, an external expert on Pediatric Clinical Hematology and Oncology, thalassemia and hemophilia at the National Health Insurance Fund.
She is an active member of national and international professional and scientific societies in the field of hematology and pediatric oncohematology.
She is a co-founder of the Bulgarian Joint Oncology Network (BJCN).
